Welcome to TOP END RUMBLE

Come on in and check us out. Firstly, thanks to all of you who gave us time when we were researching this run, we gathered a lot of information from you over the 2 years and I hope you see that reflected on these pages

TOP END RUMBLE is to be a pre ’65 run. Fun starts before you arrive at the venue. Once you cross into the Northern Territory you can start collecting cards for your poker hand. So be sure to download your poker run form at the time of registration.

The start venue is the Showgrounds at Katherine. NT. The showgrounds will be available for early bird camping from Sunday 11th June 2017. Prior to that you will need to book in to other accommodation, the Katherine Visitors Centre can assist you with this.

The official start of TOP END RUMBLE is 13th June 2017. Katherine Showgrounds. As many of you are not familiar with our Territory Alcohol laws I will take this opportunity to stress that they are very different and drinking in public is an offence. To this end I am getting a permit to allow you to drink in the camping area at the Showgrounds that will be valid for the period 11th June 2017 to 13th June 2017 inclusive.

Our fantastic “as far as the eye can see” 300km rod run will start straight after breakfast on the 14th and take us to our venue in Darwin, THE SAGE CLUB TROPICAL RESORT, where 10 days of exploring, adventure, cars and fun will begin. A gate separates the caravan park from the resort so those with caravans etc are right there at the venue also.

We are a participating part of the Darwin Supercar weekend. More about that later.

The days are free for you to use as you please discovering the Top End and surrounds, the evenings we will gather together and fill with rodding fun, displays, cruise night, movies and dancing, grasskhana, rocker cover racing etc.

The rocker cover track will be set up at the Resort to allow for building of the machines here rather than transporting them if you have a space issue. One of the advantages of our laid back itinerary.

We are being recognised by the Top End Tourism office and will have special discounts available upon showing your ID.

Outside of the NT we have offers for entrants passing through Coober Pedy with a mine tour and discount jewellery, and Outback Queensland through the Outback Mates Club membership of which comes with your receipt upon entry.

Our aim is to make this an event you will remember and enjoy so that next time round you will come back. We recognise the distance most will be travelling to attend and want to give you the opportunity to get the most out of you time with us. Links to sponsors or supporters sites are to help with forward planning and to answer general queries, however, our email address: mail@topendrumble.com is there for you to use. As you all know John and I travel the roads you will be on annually and we would be only too happy to share our experience with you. A major query was regarding gas for vehicles fitted for it. I am assured that it is available at all Servos up the Stuart Highway.

We have a facebook page for you to chat among yourselves, to set up travel groups, post photos and generally share the fun and excitement of this adventure. Please use this page as it adds to the comraderie of the event.

Doug Bell (an old friend) from The Hot Rod Show in New Zealand will be attending and filming the event for his show. Also a DVD of the whole event for us.

When all financials are finalised any funds remainingwill be donated to Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

So people, make up a group, bring your cars, bring your dancing shoes, and lets make the TOP END RUMBLE.

On a personal note, John and I do the miles each year, we would not consider leaving home without the peace of mind given by two pieces of paper, one from Shannons Insurance the other from AANT, can I urge you all to seriously consider doing the same, insure your vehicle because there are allsorts on our outback roads, camels, brumbies, cattle and native animals all lovely to see but a too close encounter not so much, take membership of your automobile association in your state it will be the cheapest towing/roadside assistance you can get.

With that DARWIN OR BUST can really be stress free and fun.

See you all in Katherine for TOP END RUMBLE.
